The rookie quarterback, Anthony Richardson, will be absent from play for a minimum of four weeks, but it is possible that he may be sidelined for up to eight weeks. Richardson sustained an AC joint sprain over the weekend and was officially placed on injured reserve on Wednesday.
The duration of his absence will depend on the success of his rehabilitation and whether surgery is deemed necessary. During Richardson’s recovery, Gardner Mishew will assume the role of starting quarterback. If Richardson is only absent for four games, he will return for the Colts’ game against the Patriots in Frankfurt, Germany. However, if he is out for eight weeks, he will not return until the Colts’ week 14 road game against the Bengals.
This is the third injury that Richardson has sustained during the season. He was removed from the week 1 matchup against the Jags near the end of the game, and he was also removed from a game against the Texans due to a concussion that prevented him from playing in the following week’s game. “It becomes challenging when a player is injured, and he has been injured. He is undoubtedly a very talented player, and it is difficult. However, we have great confidence in Gardner to step in and perform as he has been doing,” stated head coach Shane Steichen earlier this week.

In the current season, Richardson has accumulated 544 passing yards and 136 rushing yards in four games.
