Scholarship Scheme, initiated by Governor Yusuf, has successfully enrolled over one thousand students.

The Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has initiated the resumption of the foreign scholarship programme, which will benefit one thousand and one (1,001) individuals pursuing master’s degrees in various universities worldwide.

According to The Independent Mirror, the first group of beneficiaries, consisting of 150 individuals out of the 1,001, will depart from Nigeria to different countries on Friday, 20th October, 2023.

These beneficiaries are indigenous and resident first-class degree holders who have been awarded fully-funded scholarships for postgraduate studies in India and other nations. The scholarship was presented to the students during a vibrant ceremony held at the Open Theatre, Government House, where Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf emphasized that this project is a continuation of a similar initiative introduced by Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso’s administration (2011-2015).

It is also in line with the government’s higher education blueprint, which places significant importance on human capital development.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf further stated that, in addition to the foreign scholarship scheme, the Kano State government is dedicated to enhancing state-owned tertiary institutions by providing increased funding and developing infrastructure to facilitate effective learning, teaching, and research.

He urged the scholarship recipients to seize this golden opportunity to excel in their respective fields of study by remaining committed, focused, and respectful of the laws, norms, values, and cultures of their host communities.
