Taylor Swift’s latest re-recording release, 1989 (Taylor’s Version), achieved a remarkable feat by securing the largest opening on the Billboard 200 in almost ten years during the previous week.
The album debuted at the coveted No. 1 spot after selling an impressive 1.653 million equivalent album units by the week ending on November 2. This outstanding achievement surpasses even the original version of 1989, which had debuted with 1.287 million units in its first week back in November 2014, further highlighting the immense popularity of Taylor Swift’s re-recordings.
Not only did 1989 (Taylor’s Version) achieve the highest sales for an album since 2015, but it also ranks as the sixth highest-selling album of all time in terms of traditional album sales. Out of the aforementioned total sum, an impressive 1.359 million units were sold through traditional album sales. However, despite its remarkable success, it falls behind other iconic albums such as Adele’s 25, NSYNC’s No Strings Attached, NSYNC’s Celebrity, Eminem’s The Marshall Mathers LP, and Backstreet Boys’ Black & Blue in terms of overall sales.
In addition to her record-breaking sales, Taylor Swift has also solidified her position as the female artist with the most number-one albums of all time, with an impressive 13 different projects topping the chart. This achievement places her in a tie with Drake for third place on the list of artists with the most number-one albums, regardless of gender. Only JAY-Z, with 14 number-one albums, and the Beatles, with a staggering 19, surpass Swift and Drake in this regard.

In 2019, Swift commenced the re-recording process of her initial six studio albums due to a dispute over the ownership of her masters. Despite her efforts, she was unable to regain control of them following the acquisition of her former label, Big Machine Records, by Scooter Braun.

Beyond her musical endeavors, Swift has been romantically involved with Travis Kelce, a prominent tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs. Throughout their relationship, the pop star has attended numerous games in support of Kelce. Addressing the media frenzy surrounding their connection, Kelce acknowledged the constant presence of paparazzi and stated, “It is an inevitable aspect that accompanies fame. Taylor has a significant number of people who genuinely care about her, and that is for valid reasons. We must continue to embrace life, learn from our experiences, and cherish the moments.”
