Saweetie faces more criticism for her music compared to many other female rap artists, despite having more Grammy nominations than some who have been in the industry for a longer period of time.
Although her EP in late 2022 had disappointing sales in its first week, there are those who suggest that Saweetie should explore other creative avenues where she feels more comfortable. However, regardless of the opinions of critics, she remains determined to release a high-quality album that tells a compelling story, without solely relying on viral hits.
During a recent interview with Elite Daily, the 30-year-old artist discussed the extensive process involved in creating her debut album, which she is currently still working on. “There is a misconception about how quickly an album can be completed. It has taken me a significant amount of time, and it is not as effortless as some people may think,” she explained to the publication. “I don’t want it to be an album solely filled with chart-topping hits. While I do want it to have popular songs, I also want the tracks to connect with each other.”

The Cancer baddie had initially planned for her LP to be released in June 2021, but she didn’t feel fully prepared at the time. She explained that she has a sufficient number of songs and the challenge lies in determining the kind of story she wants to convey. Rather than opting for a linear narrative, she desires to share multiple stories, possibly reflecting different aspects of her own life.

Despite not consistently releasing music as her fans would prefer, Saweetie ensures that she continues to impress with her fashion choices. Since publicly confirming their relationship earlier this year, she and YG have done an excellent job of coordinating their styles. One of the highlights was Saweetie’s Halloween costume, which paid homage to a well-known character portrayed by Johnny Depp. For more details, click on the link provided below.
