Cristiano Ronaldo may face lashings for alleged adultery in Iran.

According to reports, Cristiano Ronaldo has purportedly received a sentence of 99 lashings in Iran on charges of adultery.

The incident occurred during Ronaldo’s visit to the country last month for an Asian Champions League match, where he was observed embracing Iranian painter Fatima Hamimi after she presented him with two paintings.

Under Iranian legislation, it is considered a criminal offense to engage in physical contact with a woman while in a committed relationship. Nevertheless, certain sources have suggested that Ronaldo may be granted clemency if he demonstrates remorse for his actions.

It should be noted that Ronaldo is not currently slated to participate in any future matches in Iran for the remainder of the season. However, this circumstance could potentially change if Al-Nassr were to be paired against an Iranian team in the knockout stages of the Champions League. The potential consequences for Hamimi in relation to this interaction remain uncertain.

Ronaldo, Al-Nassr Seeking Title

Away from the troubling legal issues, Cristiano Ronaldo and Al-Nassr are firmly in contention for a domestic title. Despite maintaining an undefeated record in their last seven games (6 wins, 1 draw), the team finds itself in third place due to consecutive losses at the beginning of the season. Ronaldo currently leads the team with an impressive tally of 17 goals in 17 games. The Saudi Pro League is currently being led by Al-Hilal, who remain unbeaten after nine games. Al-Nassr will face a challenging away match against Al-Hilal on November 30th.

In other soccer news, Wayne Rooney, Ronaldo’s former teammate at Manchester United, has made a return to English football. Birmingham City FC, the English soccer club in which Tom Brady holds a minority ownership, has appointed Rooney as their new manager this week. Rooney, who recently departed from DC United in the MLS, replaces John Eustace, who was dismissed on Monday. In a statement, Rooney expressed his excitement for this opportunity, stating, “I have been diligently building my managerial career, placing myself in demanding environments to prepare for this moment. This project gives me a sense of purpose, and I am eager to commence.” Birmingham, who narrowly avoided relegation last season, currently sits in sixth place in the EFL Championship. Additionally, it has been reported that Rooney declined an offer from a Saudi club to join Birmingham.
